Old People
Old people or older people at 55, you are past middle age and now it is time to look at what life brings next. Are you going to enjoy it or are you going to struggle through it?
I see daily struggles of older people just getting by. Why is this and what would make a person not want better for themselves? I have a few answers:
1. They are stupid and don’t know any better
2. They don’t know what is being offered today
3. They don’t know how to take advantage of life
4. They are secluded with out anyone to help them
I know most old people are not stupid, sometimes what is offered is hidden, taking advantage of life’s little pleasures is hard to get and you don’t have anyone to help you.
Here are a few things older people need to know. Old people can live in senior resorts like anyone and pay less than the normal rent. Say the normal rent is $3300 a month and you find a friend to live with you the second person cost is $450 a month. You both would pay $1875.00 dollars a month. This includes rent, utilities, food, entertainment, fitness room, socializing, med. Alert, concierges service and vacation travel at sister locations.
Now if you are a Veteran from WW11, Korea or Vietnam you might qualify to get a $1200 dollar living credit which would cut your portion of the rent to only $675.00 dollars. The only way you can find out about these great savings is to contact people who know how to get this for you.
• Senior Apartment Sharing (two people living in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment sharing only the living room and kitchen splitting the cost of everything with a sister, other family member or a friend.)

The cost of all this for a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment would be around $3,200 dollars a month. If you decided to have a friend live with you the cost of the second person drops to $400 and when you divide the $3,600 between two people, you and a friend the cost is $1800 dollars per person. There are even programs to help you find a friend if you don't know a friend. People like yourself that may be interested in the same things your along with saving money by spliting the cost. As we get further in this economy we see that finding ways to conserve our saving is going to be important. This is your total cost of living except for some small items you want each month.
If tavel is something you like it is even better with a friend. It is safer, less expensive and more enjoyable and if you live in a Senior Resort Community most have a package that allows you to travel to their other properties and stay free, eat the food free while you are there and take part in the festivities. It is hard to beat Free and that is because you are paying rent at the Senior Resort where you live.
Most adult children feel more secure if you are traveling with a friend. Your money will get you so much more if you try the apartment sharing with a friend. You might not drive and you might choose a friend that has a car and drives. You might even choose a person that is a little younger than you who doesn't mind doing things to help you.
How do you find friends if you are not a person who is out in the social circles. There are social networks that have workshops for meeting new like minded people. People that might want to travel and cut cost of living expenses.
You might use a professional service to help. It sounds weird to think about a dating site to find a friend as an apartment roommate, but it might be a way to find a person with the same likes and dislikes as you. You pick through a list of likes and dislikes at one of these sites. Questions get answered like do you smoke, drink, snor, keep the apartment clean and organized, do you like to travel and other questions that are important to you.
